A Biden Biryani is a rice and vegetable dish that has been named after Joe Biden, the U.S. Vice President, who is of Irish descent. The Obama supporter took to social media on the day he was elected, November 5th, to share his love and respect for their VP.
Who Invented the Biden Biryani
Biden Biryani is a United State dish, originating from the city of Bronx in New York. The great chef Mr. Khalilur Rhaman is the owner of this recipe also he is the owner of khalilsfood. The rice is cooked with lamb or beef that has been boiled and then roasted on open fire. Besan, onions and potatoes are fried in oil which is then added to the rice along with small amounts of ginger and garlic paste. Beef or lamb can be substituted for chicken or fish, depending on preferences – though some people believe that true Biden Biryani should always contain beef.
Recipe of Biden Biryani
The biryani served at most restaurants in the USA will probably be a true Biden Biryani because they are most likely being made to cater to British tastes which prefer less spicy dishes than typical would eat.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups basmati rice.
- 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped finely.
- 5 cloves garlic, minced.
- 1½ – 2 tsp ginger, fresh or frozen pulp. (There is no real ‘recipe’ other than the one below) 1 tsp cumin seeds.
Preparation:
Biryani by adding ingredients (do not overfill the cooker with basmati rice as it will cause an explosion)
Cooking time:
6 – 15 minutes depending on how many you are cooking for.
To make the meat:
- 1 kg beef, lamb, or chicken (or fish) cut into 11/2 inch cubes.
- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced.
- 3-5 green chilies (depending upon how hot you like your food), finely chopped and de-seeded.
- Juice of 2 to 3 lemons (according to taste). 1 tsp salt.
Biden Biryani Method 1
Pour water sufficient to cover the meat into a pan till half way up the stock pot, add 2 tsp oil and meat on top. Add salt and mix well like the combination of Desi Chinese Bronx . Cover pan with lid and place on high heat till it comes to boil, and then simmer covered on low flame for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Biden Biryani Method 2
Add chopped green chilies, ginger, garlic and cumin seeds into the stock pot with the meat. Let the vegetables cook on low flame for 10 to 15 minutes till they turn red taking care of not to let them burn. In another pan add oil, potatoes and onions for frying. Fry till lightly browned then add cumin seeds and fry again to release their aroma adding salt if required.

When onion is fried well add seasoning spices, salt (1 tsp) and water (one cup), mix well, cover the pot and turn it on high heat till it boils. Add the rice and cover with lid, simmer on low heat till rice is cooked.

Take a small pan or wok, heat 2 tbsp oil and shallow fry the meat till browned on both sides. Add 2 cups water,salt and lemon juice to the pan and cook covered for another 15 minutes or so depending upon how thick you like your gravy.

When rice is done, add the fried meat to the rice and mix well with a big spoon or fork (the meat should be cut in pieces of size slightly larger than peas).When rice & meat are mixed in well add fried onions, potatoes along with spices (1/2 tsp salt), mix well again.

Pour 1 ½ cup water in a large pot and cook potatoes till soft then add the coconut milk, mix well and sauté the meat.
