English Language

In the English segment, there were 30 questions, most of which were straightforward, but some were a little challenging. The paragraphs, divided into five or six 200–400 word sections apiece, focus on significant global issues and current events. Five questions follow each reading comprehension passage. The passages were simple to understand. Most RC questions focused on the passage’s tone, inferences, central concept, etc. The remaining questions concerned idioms, phrases, and grammatical ideas.

Overall, this section was the simplest to complete, and scoring well is inevitable if you attempt 25 or more questions.

Current Affairs, including General Knowledge

Most of the passages in CLAT 2023’s current affairs section were similar to those in the paper from the previous year. Thirty-five questions in all, based on 7 passages, were given. Only a handful of these questions were difficult; most were simple to answer. Most current affairs sections dealt with current world concerns, whereas static general knowledge received relatively less attention. The paragraphs made the section appear long. Nevertheless, many queries may be addressed without reading the entire paragraphs.

For an excellent Current Affairs  score, attempting a total of 28 questions is recommended.

Legal Reasoning

Despite being more straightforward than expected, this section was lengthy because of the increased number of questions. There were eight passages, and they were all about significant laws and recent decisions. The passages in the Legal reasoning section discussed the law of torts, contract law, the Indian Penal Code, and other relevant ideas.

Thirty-four or more questions attempted can fetch you a good score in this section.

Logical Reasoning

This section had six passages with five questions each. The focus of these questions, which had a medium degree of difficulty, was critical reasoning. The quotes came from well-known newspapers and covered a range of current events. They were easy to understand. The questions mainly concentrated on inference, the primary idea, reinforcing or undermining the argument, and much more.

Most of it revolved around arithmetic. 11 or more questions shall be considered a good attempt in this section.
