What is the BASLP course?
BASLP is a four-year degree course that provides training to students and helps them become audiologists and speech-language pathologists. Its full form is Bachelor of Science in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. It is a four-year bachelor’s degree program.

Students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for admission to the bachelor’s degree programme in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology. Students who score 50% or higher in the Science Board 10+2 exam are eligible for admission. In addition, applicants should study biology as a compulsory subject in class 12th.
Therefore, applicants must be at least 25 years of age. Moreover, some universities also conduct admission tests. And some colleges especially look at the NEET scores. Students should also be aware of the minimum cutoff as asked by their colleges.

- Next, the chosen subjects in 10+2 should be Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.

BASLP Course Syllabus

1st: Introduction to speech and language pathology, introduction to pathology, basic human anatomy, and physiology.

2nd: Basic acoustics, basic electronics, introduction to linguistics, psychology related to speech and adult neurocommunication disorders.

3rd: Psychology related to hearing, clinical work (speech pathology), clinical work (audiology), childhood communication disorders, and neuromotor speech disorders.

Articulation and phonological disorders; voice and laryngectomy; diagnostic audiology; amplification; and assistive devices for the hearing impaired are the fourth and final categories.

5th: Amplification for the hearing impaired, educational audiology, otorhinolaryngology, community-oriented professional practises in speech-language pathology, noise measurement and hearing conversation, and clinical work (speech pathology).

6th: Assistive devices for the hearing impaired, basic statistics and research methods in speech-language pathology and audiology, clinical work (speech pathology and audiology), and pediatrics.

7th: Students will be posted home for 6 months in the Speech and Hearing department-related hospitals.

8th: Students are posted in various formats and work with the institute.
The BASLP course duration is 4 years (3 years academic + 1 year internship).
There is a noticeable difference between government and private colleges offering BSL courses in India, especially in the BASLP course fees.
